T&T is prepared to deepen regional cooperation through healthcare, transportation, and security initiatives.

This is according to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, as she today joined other CARICOM Leaders for closed-door discussions at the 51st Meeting of Heads of Government.

Speaking ahead of a Retreat today, she said she intended to place several proposals before the bloc.

These include the use of the National Prosthetics Centre by other member states, and making local medical expertise and human resources available to elsewhere in the region.

There is also a proposal to use T&T’s ferry service in the Eastern Caribbean.

Meanwhile, the PM identified regional crime and security as a key issue, saying several CARICOM countries were facing similar challenges.

She said T&T was committed to strengthening collaboration among law enforcement and national security agencies with regard to cybercrime, financial crime, transnational organized crime and intelligence sharing.
