Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says there is no evidence to date, that persons killed in US strikes in the Caribbean were T&T nationals.
The Prime Minister spoke on this matter during a media conference held by this afternoon, following the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting.
The PM also objected to these deaths being labelled murders, saying the legal advice states otherwise.
During the meeting one of the things CARICOM agreed to was a proposal for the CCJ to deliver an advisory opinion on the reappointment of General Secretary Carla Barnett.
T&T had previously objected to the process followed.
Despite this and other recent criticism, Mrs Persad-Bissessar said T&T remains committed to CARICOM.
Also speaking was Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Mottley, who outlined CARICOM’s relief efforts for Venezuela following two devastating earthquakes on June 24th.
Ms Mottley said they also remain in contact with Venezuela’s Acting President.
