Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has met with Dr. Bram Willemsen, T&T Operations Manager for ExxonMobil.
On the agenda: the company’s ongoing activities and future opportunities in the local energy sector.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Willemsen spoke positively about the ease of doing business in T&T, stating that this was the fastest ExxonMobil has been able to secure the necessary approvals and complete the administrative procedures required to begin seismic activities.
He also reportedly expressed optimism as the company continues its technical work, with hopes of a hydrocarbon find that can generate significant benefits for the people and economy of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar says her Government remains focused on attracting investment, creating sustainable jobs, expanding economic opportunities and developing new revenue streams to support the continued growth and prosperity of Trinidad and Tobago.
Also present for the meetings were Energy Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal, Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers, and Minister in the Energy Ministry Ernesto Kesar.
