Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar officially switched on new lighting at the Clarke Rochard Recreation Ground, marking an upgrade to the community facility.
According to a Facebook post from Public Utilities Minister, Barry Padarath, the commissioning ceremony took place last evening at the corner of Clarke Road and Rochard Road, Penal.
The lighting, done under T&TEC’s Public Lighting Programme, is expected to improve visibility in the area and support increased use of the space after hours, including evening sports and community activities.
Minister Padararth noted the progress goes beyond infrastructure, pointing to its potential to enhance safety, strengthen community ties, and foster a greater sense of pride among residents.
