Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has reassured the nation that Paria holds βenoughβ fuel reserves, despite a growing global shortage.
This came in response to a question from MP Stuart Young on how many weeks of domestic fuel supply are currently in storage for Trinidad and Tobago.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the Government is working with international partners to support the free movement of vessels through critical shipping routes.
Authorities continue to monitor rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
This was in reply to a question from the Diego Martin West MP, Hans de Vignes, on the impact of escalating tensions affecting the Strait, which are driving supply chain disruptions, higher freight costs, and shortages of critical inputs.
The Prime Minister said the Governmentβs focus remains on stability and preparedness, noting engagements in international high-level talks and with the local private sector.
