Local songbird Peggy Supersad released her latest single on Wednesday at 103.1FM studios, thrilling the audience with a unique fusion track inspired by a live adaptation of the song performed by the late Indian music icon Asha Bhosle.

Her version of Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko combined Bollywood melodies with a subtle Latin rhythm, creating what Supersad described as a refreshing reinterpretation.

โ€œThis particular recording is extra special because it was taken from a live adaptation that she did a few years ago,โ€ Supersad told 103.1FM News.

โ€œIโ€™m very excited about how this fusion of Bollywood with a little hint of Latin will be coming together.โ€

The talented singer and dancer said the concept emerged after her producer Vedish Gayadeen of T&TEC Gayatones fame came across the live version and sought to re-imagine it with added musical layers and Caribbean influence.

โ€œHe added additional music onto it, in that same flowing, Latin style, and then you have the Bollywood fusion coming after,โ€ Supersad said.

While the track was recorded in mid-February 2026, it has taken on deeper emotional significance following Asha Bhosleโ€™s recent death.

Supersad acknowledged the timing as โ€œbittersweet,โ€ noting that while the project was not intended as a tribute, it now stands as a respectful nod to the legendary singerโ€™s legacy.

โ€œItโ€™s almost like paying tribute to her in that way but it was not done for that purpose. Iโ€™m still very appreciative to be doing solid justice to what she has given to the public through her career,โ€ she said.

The single is a standalone release, continuing Supersadโ€™s ongoing collaboration with the Vedish and Capil Gayadeen.

โ€œMost of the songs Iโ€™ve done so far are produced from the T&TEC Gayatones, (The Gayadeens) choose the songs, build the music from scratch, and the choose their singers. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to voice and put down my vocals on these amazing tracks,” she said.

She praised the Gayadeenโ€™s humility and musical guidance.

โ€œThey are so humble and down-to-earth. It’s like talking to family,โ€ Supersad said, “I really appreciate the guidance

โ€œIโ€™m very grateful for the tips and their guidance, moulding me into a better singer. Thatโ€™s why I enjoy the processโ€”itโ€™s not just about recording, it s about learning and becoming better at your craft.”

Supersad credited her musical roots to childhood exposure to Indiaโ€™s golden era of playback singing.

She cited legends such as Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, and Mukesh as key influences.

โ€œI was always very drawn to this genre and that era,โ€ Supersad said, โ€œThat is the type of music I really love to perform now.โ€

Looking ahead, fans can expect a different arrangement of the song during her upcoming Motherโ€™s day performance at 103.1FMโ€™s Momโ€™s Night Out.

Supersad plans to deliver a more updated version of Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko at Momโ€™s Night Out, as part of a selection of classic hits.

There will also be a surprise duet.

Supersad would not reveal who the duet is with, but promised fans will be royally entertained.
