Opposition walk out

The Opposition staged a walkout from Parliament last evening, in protest of what it describes as the intimidation of a Parliamentary Officer by Leader of Government Business Barry Padarath.

In a statement, the Opposition accused Minister Padarath of photographing the officer during a recent Standing Finance Committee meeting and said the action amounted to intimidation.

It is calling for a criminal investigation into the incident and is urging the Prime Minister to remove Minister Padarath as Leader of Government Business.

It is also calling on any Member of Parliament who has experienced intimidation, bullying or coercion to come forward and speak out.

The Government has not yet responded to the allegations.
