Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles is currently in New York, to participate in high-level meetings and events taking place alongside the UN General Assembly.
Today, she will be presented with the Champion for Women in Innovation Award, at the launch event for the Women In Innovation.
The award is an acknowledgement of her “exemplary leadership, dedicated public service and commitment to championing innovation and advancing initiatives that strengthen communities and promote a more equitable and sustainable future.”
Over the course of this week, she is expected to participate in discussions on matters of international concern, including Women’s Representation, Gender Based Violence, and Innovation and the Future.
She will also speak at the Better Together Connect Innovate, Impact: Smart Technology for Safer Motherhood: Advancing Early Identification of High-Risk Pregnancies session on Thursday 24th September. On Friday 25th, she will participate in a Women Political Leaders forum.
Additionally, Ms Beckles will meet with members of the Trinidad and Tobago diaspora during her time in New York.
