The NCRHA is rejecting accusations of inaction at the hospital in Mt Hope.

Patriotic Front Leader Mickela Panday described the system as being in a “deep crisis” saying she spent six hours while following up on a homeless man at the facility last week.

She also lamented the conditions under which staff are made to work and patients are being treated.

In a statement, the NCRHA pointed to Ms Panday’s own acknowledgment that the deterioration of the public healthcare system had been allowed to continue for decades.

It insists the situation cannot be reversed in just over one year and assured of its commitment in addressing deficiencies and delivering improvements.

“The NCRHA firmly rejects any portrayal of its current leadership as detached from the realities facing patients or unwilling to confront the challenges within its institutions. The Board and Executive Management continue to engage healthcare professionals, assess operational deficiencies and implement measures aimed at improving patient flow, expanding service delivery and strengthening the overall patient experience,” says its statement.
