The Prison Service has intercepted two packages believed to have been dropped off by drones at the Maximum Security Prison.
Around 4:50am yesterday, officers received intelligence regarding the delivery and proceeded to conduct checks within the prison compound.
They found the two packages containing:
- 554 grams of a plant-like material resembling marijuana
- 10 packs of Lucky Strike cigarettes
- A blue Samsung cellphone
Acting Prisons Commissioner Elvin Scanterbury is again noting the evolving challenge posed by the use of technology to prison security.
He adds that the Prison Service must continuously adapt its strategies and strengthen security measures to counter attempts to circumvent established prison security protocols.
