Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley was honoured by her colleagues at the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police on Monday at her funeral in San Fernando.

Eversley was found dead at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station.

An autopsy later revealed that she was strangled during an incident that also involved the theft of a significant cache of firearms and ammunition from the station’s armory.

At the funeral on Monday, Municipal Police Superintendent Wayne Mohammed condemned her murder and said Eversley served with honour.

“We, the members of the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service condemns this evil act, which stands in stark contrast to the values of decency and respect for human life,” he said.

“But even in our grief and outrage, we must not lose sight of who Anusha was and what she represented. She stood for duty. She stood for courage. Her sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks borne daily by those in uniform to protect and serve.”
