The Ministry of the People says its service delivery units are ready to lend assistance to those affected by the recent murder of 12-year-old Mercedes Cabrera-Layne.
The child’s body was found in a forested area in Erin yesterday, one day after she was reported missing.
According to a Trinidad Express report, an autopsy found her cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.
A 24-year-old man remains in custody as investigations continue.
In a statement, the Ministry says it stands ready to support the efforts currently being considered by the TTPS’ Victim and Witness Support Unit.
