Minister of the People, Vandana Mohit, met today with NIB officials to discuss cheque production services and arrangements to ensure the continued and timely delivery of social assistance payments to beneficiaries.
During the meeting, the Ministry confirmed that over $2.5 million in payments were made to NIBTT.
This sum relates to the production of cheques for beneficiaries of the Senior Citizens’ Pension, Disability Assistance Grant, and Public Assistance Grant.
Minister Mohit says while her Ministry continues to expand the use of electronic payments, close to 40,000 beneficiaries still depend on the cheque-based system.
The Ministry says it remains committed to strengthening the efficiency, security and accountability of social assistance payments, while ensuring that vulnerable beneficiaries continue to receive financial support.
