The Media Association of T&T says the national awards given to five veteran media practitioners recognise decades of service to journalism and broadcasting.
Former Trinidad Express Editor-in-Chief Omatie Lyder, Political Editor Ria Taitt, photojournalist Andrea De Silva and journalist Jai Parasram received the Chaconia Medal, Silver.
Veteran broadcaster Sadhruddin “Sadro” Mohammed was posthumously awarded the Hummingbird Medal, Gold.
MATT noted that their careers reflect the important role of the media in informing and serving the public.
