Police ranks in Guyana have dealt a major blow to the illegal drug trade following a large-scale cannabis eradication exercise.
The operation, carried out on Friday at Kimba along the Upper Berbice River, uncovered two extensive fields covering about seven acres.
Officers found an estimated 310,000 cannabis plants, along with makeshift camps, drying areas, and roughly 380 pounds of dried cannabis.
Authorities say the total street value of the narcotics is estimated at 258.7 million dollars.
All plants, structures, and related items were destroyed by fire at the scene. No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
