Former Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith has criticised proposals to increase the size of TTPS from around 7,000 to 10,000 officers, saying there is a need for “enhanced Quality not increased Quantity”.
In a Facebook post, Mr Griffith said the focus should be on leadership, accountability, and performance rather than increasing manpower.
He added that existing resources are not being used effectively and said greater investment should instead go toward systems, training, and modern policing methods.
Mr Griffith also called for an independent international review of the police service and said any expansion should be matched with clear performance measures and improved oversight.
