Fishermen attacked

A father and son say they swam six hours to shore, after surviving an alleged pirate attack, in the Gulf of Paria.

In an interview with the media yesterday, Rakesh Deodat and his son Renaldo said armed men boarded their fishing boat early on Tuesday, fired a shot, and ordered them out.

They jumped into the sea and eventually reached shore near La Brea.

The men said lost their boat, engine, and fishing gear, valued at more than $10,000.
