eTecK says negotiations relating to the Hilton Trinidad are in the final stages
In a statement issued this afternoon, it says Government is committed to securing a sustainable operating arrangement for the hotel.
It adds that the negotiations remain active and constructive, and that no decision has been taken by it or the Government to permanently discontinue operations.
Also, following a statement issued by the Communications Workers Union today, there was clarification regarding responsibility for workers at the hotel.
In a letter to employees, the hotel’s management said its understanding is at that eTecK will assume responsibility for the workers’ employment if the lease expires.
However, eTecK says all persons employees at the Hilton are employees of Hilton International Trinidad Limited and not eTecK.
As such, it says Hilton is responsible for fulfilling employment obligations.
