Former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is calling for transparency from Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar over any Government involvement in US visa cancellations.
In a social media post this morning, Dr Rowley asked whether the Government recommended that his visa and that of former minister Stuart Young be cancelled, and what grounds were cited.
He is also questioning whether similar recommendations were made involving other nationals.
Dr Rowley is further asking which of the stated grounds applied to a person he describes as the Prime Minister’s “close friend and messenger,” whose visa was cancelled before she took office.
He also welcomed the US clarification, published on August 10th, outlining grounds for visa revocation, including visa violations, criminal activity, fraud and threats to national security.
