The Defence Ministry has also issued a statement rejecting claims that Independence Day celebrations had been cancelled.

It refers to these claims as “unsubstantiated conclusions” aimed at “causing disharmony and confusion”.

It adds that it remains committed to supporting national observances in keeping with established Government policy.

Its statement comes on the heels of comments made today by Homeland Security Minister, Roger Alexander, in an interview with 103.1FM News.
