CWI President, Dr. Kishore Shallow, has praised Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, for the inclusive and consultative approach adopted in chairing the 22nd Meeting of the Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket.
This was convened yesterday via videoconference and brought together a broad cross-section of stakeholders from government, cricket administration, the business community and the playing fraternity.
In addition to matters arising from the agenda, discussions also focused on the state and development of cricket infrastructure across the Caribbean.
In this regard, the Sub-Committee considered the proposed establishment of a joint CARICOM–CWI Infrastructure Development and Utilisation Sub-Committee, which would provide strategic oversight and recommendations on the planning, maintenance and development of cricket and multi-purpose sporting facilities throughout the region.
The terms of reference for this body remain subject to finalisation, though it is anticipated that the Sub-Committee will be formally established in short order.
There was also an agreement to convene a Regional Cricket Business Forum aimed at increasing the involvement of the Caribbean business community in cricket.
This forum is expected to explore opportunities for greater investment, partnership and collaboration in support of the continued growth and development of the regional game.
