Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed has praised Bess Motors Marchin Patriots after they successfully defended their Premiership I Sunday League title on Sunday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Crystian Thurton hit 55 not out to give the Patriots the win after Teshawn Castro took four wickets to help restrict PowerGen Penal Sports Club to 220 for 9 in the 50-over contest.
Evin Lewis (51) and Kamil Pooran (47) laid a solid foundation for Thurton to seal a six-wicket win.
“To defend a 50-over title in just your third year in Premier 1 cricket is nothing short of remarkable. This success speaks to your discipline, unity, and relentless pursuit of excellence,” Mayor Mohammed stated.
“You have set a standard, not just for your club, but for cricket in the region. Wishing you continued dominance and even greater milestones ahead.”
Marchin Patriots also swept the awards for the final.
Castro won awards for Player of the Match and Best Bowler, while Thurton (Best Batsman) and Kirstan Kallicharan (Best Fielder) also took home awards.
