Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Shaniqua Bascombe recorded new personal bests in the 100m and 200m at the Velocity Fest on Sunday at the National Stadium, Kingston.

Running from the inside lane, the 22-year-old outpaced former U20 100m world champion Alana Reid of Jamaica in the straight to win in 22.68 seconds.

World Championships silver medallist Tina Clayton of Jamaica was third in 23.92.

Earlier in the day, Bascombe stopped the clock at 11.08s in Heat 1 to shatter her previous personal best of 11.16, set at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in August 2025.

Bascombe won the 100m title at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games, taking a silver in the 4x100m relay at the same meet.
