The hunt is on for those responsible for the theft of essential electrical wiring at WASA’s Tabaquite Booster Station.

The Authority says the incident was discovered around 5am and forced the immediate shutdown of the facility.

This left thousands in Tabaquite and environs with low water pressures or complete supply interruptions.

This is the second attack on WASA’s infrastructure in less than 24 hours, coming on the heels of vandalism at the Biche Booster Station.

The Authority says the “frequency and audacity” of the attacks point to a reckless disregard for the welfare of citizens” with the TTPS and law enforcement agencies working to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible.

The station is expected to be returned to service by 7:30pm today.
