Air India is expanding drug testing for all its pilots, following an incident in which one of its captains reportedly tested positive for marijuana.
Reuters says that from today the airline will begin mandatory substance testing, screening for substances and medications prohibited under aviation regulations.
This goes beyond existing rules, which require airlines to randomly test at least 10% of flight crew for psychoactive substances each year.
The move follows an August 4th incident involving a flight from Phuket to Delhi, which dropped about 300 feet, injuring 24 passengers.
