Police have destroyed more than 8,500 cannabis plants in the La Lune Forest, worth an estimated street value of $8.55 million dollars.
The plants were found in seven fields during a cannabis suppression exercise on Friday.
Drying racks and other equipment used to cultivate and process the cannabis were also destroyed.
Police say officers encountered obstacles along the access road, two trap guns, which were safely disarmed, a trench and fallen trees.
The operation involved officers from several police units, including the Jungle Operations Team, Southern Division and the Air Support Unit.
