Saint Luciaβs Governor General Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles has travelled overseas for medical attention.
The Office of the Governor General says Sir Cyril is currently in Martinique receiving care.
In his absence, Felix Finisterre has been appointed to carry out official duties, in keeping with the Constitution.
Officials say arrangements are in place to ensure continuity of government business.
The Governor General is accompanied by his wife, and his family is asking for prayers and well wishes during this time.
