A Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert is in effect for Trinidad and Tobago until 12 noon today.
The Met Service says there is a 70% chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms, with the most significant impacts expected in Tobago and northern and eastern Trinidad.
The activity is associated with low level troughs, interacting with the ITCZ.
The Met Service has advised that heavy showers may cause traffic delays, street and flash flooding, localized ponding, and gusty winds.
Strong winds could displace loose outdoor items, create rough seas near thunderstorms, and bring down unstable trees.
Landslides and land slips are also possible in vulnerable areas.
