“Politics is not a tea party. The war is on and the UNC will not roll over and play dead.”
This response came from Leader of Government Business, Barry Padarath, this morning outside Parliament, as he pushed back against calls by the Opposition for a criminal probe into his conduct.
It follows a heated exchange in the House on Friday during a sitting of the Standing Finance Committee.
Minister Padarath instead called for an investigation into comments made by Kareem Marcelle at a political meeting on Thursday, where Marcelle said his remarks were directed at the United National Congress and not any ethnic group.
Minister Padarath also denied allegations that photographs taken of parliamentary staff were intended as intimidation, saying they were for identification purposes related to complaints before parliamentary committees.
