The Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation, TUCO, has announced the finalists for the 2026 National Extempo and National Freestyle competitions, following preliminary and semi-final rounds held at the Radisson Hotel in Port of Spain.
Seven artistes have advanced to the National Extempo Finals, where they will challenge reigning champion Phillip Murray, also known as Black Sage.
The finalists include Akeem Chance, Brian London, Joseph “Lingo” La Placeliere, Kedell “Dr. Kno” Noray, Myron “Calypso Nite” Bruce, Nesta “Sekon Sta” Boxill, and veteran calypsonian Winston “Gypsy” Peters.
Meanwhile, seven competitors will face defending National Freestyle Champion Akeem Chance in that category.
The Grand Finals take place on Tuesday, February 10, at the National Academy for the Performing Arts, starting at 7 p.m.
The Extempo champion will take home $200,000, while the Freestyle winner will receive $100,000.
Tickets cost $250.
