A Trans Guyana Airways aircraft was damaged Tuesday evening after striking a capybara while landing at Eugene F. Correia International Airport.
The Beechcraft 1900 had just arrived from Suriname when the collision caused significant damage and forced the plane off the runway.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew.
Authorities are now investigating how the animal accessed the runway, as operations continue.
