ATM Robbery Tobago

A Tobago man has been charged following an alleged attempt to steal an ATM vault in Plymouth, using a backhoe.

35-year-old Sherman Irvine of Black Rock was charged with robbery with violence, malicious damage, unlawful imprisonment and house breaking and larceny.

The charges stem from the June 24th incident, in which two masked men allegedly confronted security officers at the YMCA and Beach Sports Facility in Courland and took a backhoe and company truck.

Police say the backhoe was later used in an unsuccessful attempt to remove the vault from a First Citizens ATM in Plymouth.

Irvine was denied bail and the matter was adjourned to October 5th.
