The Tobago House of Assembly is shaking up Carnival this year, decentralizing J’ouvert and shifting the spotlight away from the capital, with a strong focus on youth involvement.
Tourism, Antiquities and Creative Industries Secretary Zorisha Hackett says the move is aimed at boosting economic activity across the island.
“In our national Carnival, we are going to be concentrating most of our efforts on the extremities of the island—our south-west and our east,” she said.
“We want to concentrate on Scarborough, the capital, for that Tobago Carnival,” she added.
