A St. Helena woman has appeared in court charged in connection with a vehicle importation scam.
A victim reportedly paid a total of $70,000 between July 12th and August 16th 2022 for the purchase, registration and delivery of a 14-seater Nissan N350 bus within a three-month period.
The vehicle was not delivered and efforts to obtain a refund were unsuccessful.
Additionally, checks made with the Customs and Excise Division on January 14th 2025, revealed no record of the vehicle being imported.
Charged with larceny, Camille Prescod was granted $50,000 bail when she appeared before Master Indira Chinebas at the Port of Spain Masters’ Court on September 17th.
The matter has been transferred to the Port of Spain Magistrates Court and adjourned to October 16th 2026.
