New measures have been approved to change how food badges are issued in T&T.
This move is aimed at reducing long renewal delays for food handlers, with amendments to the Public Health Ordinance passed unanimously in the Senate this morning.
Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen outlined some of the changes, which she says will ease pressure on food vendors.
Minister Ameen says food badges are a critical public health tool, as they ensure persons handling food meet minimum safety, hygiene and health standards.
