Four cellular phones, nine improvised weapons and suspected narcotics are among prohibited items seized during a prison search yesterday.
The T&T Prison Service says the intelligence-led exercise was conducted at the Eastern Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre between 1:40 and 3:15PM.
Among the recovered items are 146 grams of plant-like substance resembling marijuana, a white powder-like substance, phone batteries, power banks, cigarettes, lighters, a bottle of puncheon, a digital scale.
Acting Prisons Commissioner Elvin Scanterbury noted the challenges faced by prison officers, commended their work, and reaffirmed the Prison Service’s commitment to supporting them.
