Police are investigating a disturbing video showing a police officer allegedly assaulting a woman in Tobago.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rishi Singh told the Trinidad Express the footage was received last Saturday and an investigation has been launched.
The 23-second video, widely circulated on social media, allegedly shows a police corporal slapping and striking the woman at her home in Tobago West on April 12.
Police say the matter is being actively pursued, but stress that the victim’s statement is also needed for the case to proceed.
