Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says T&T continues to stand ready to assist the people of Venezuela, whether it’s because of natural disasters or humanitarian challenges.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar recently exchanged correspondence with acting President Delcy Rodriguez, in the wake of devastating twin earthquakes.
In her letter dated July 8th, Ms Rodriguez T&T for its assistance, describing the support as “a beacon of hope in times of sorrow”.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar has since stated that this country remains deeply committed to working closely with Venezuela to support recovery efforts and strengthen longstanding ties.
On July 10th, a shipment with more than 230 tons of supplies arrived at the International Port of La Guaira.
According to the PM’s statement, T&T continues to work closely with Venezuelan authorities to facilitate the delivery of requested vaccines via Caribbean Airlines, and has actively approved overflight requests from several countries to support international humanitarian relief operations destined for Venezuela.
