Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has expressed deep sadness at the passing of UNC stalwart Don Sylvester.
She described the former Government Senator as a loyal and dedicated servant of the party and the country.
“He consistently stepped forward when called upon, approaching every responsibility with commitment, passion, and a clear sense of duty,” she expressed in a statement.
The Prime Minister praised Mr Sylvester said a dependable National Executive member and grassroots activist, who earned the respect of party members through his passion and dedication.
“His belief in the party’s work never faltered, and his support, both for the UNC and for me personally, was constant and sincere. Over the decades, whether in times of strength or challenge, Don remained engaged, present, and resolute,” she stated.
Mrs Persad Bissessar expressed condolences of behalf of the government and the United National Congress.
“Don Sylvester’s passing is a true loss to the United National Congress and to all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His contribution, loyalty, and steadfast presence will not be forgotten,” the Prime Minister stated.
“On behalf of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, and in my capacity as Political Leader of the United National Congress, I extend sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who mourn his passing.”
