Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar paid her final respects to party stalwart Don Sylvester at his funeral on Thursday.
She attended his funeral along with St Lucian Prime Minister Phillip J. Pierre, who joined in paying tribute to his life and legacy.
The United National Congress (UNC) hailed Sylvester, who died last week, as a man “whose life was defined by duty, service, and unwavering loyalty to the UNC and to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.”
“Don was more than a political figure; he was a grassroots soldier, a steadfast supporter, and a man whose commitment never wavered. His footprints are etched in our party, our hearts, and our nation,” the UNC stated in a Facebook post.
Sylvester’s funeral coincided with the 37th anniversary of the formation of the UNC.
“On this 37th anniversary of the UNC, we honour his contribution and give thanks for his enduring impact. Rest well, Don. Your work here is done.”
