Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has congratulated St Luciaโs Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre on his partyโs victory in the countryโs General Election.
Reuters reported that official general election results show the governing Labour Party winning atleast 9 out of the 17 seats.
Mr Pierre was challenged by the conservative opposition leader, Allen Chastanet, who preceded Pierre as Prime Minister of the island of 180,000 people.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar praised the Labour Party for retaining its legislative majority, saying โthe people of St Lucia have spoken at the polls.โ
She extended best wishes to Prime Minister Pierre and his government as they continue their governance, adding a blessing for the people of StLucia and their future.
