Pan Trinbago is seeking clarification from the Government on how the proposed Special Operations Bill, 2026 could affect panyards and steelpan activities across Trinidad and Tobago.
The organisation says it supports efforts to improve public safety, but wants clear guidance on provisions relating to closed areas, curfews, permits and restrictions on movement.
Pan Trinbago says these measures could potentially affect access to panyards, rehearsals, Panorama preparations and the movement of players, arrangers and other personnel.
It notes that the steelpan sector also supports a wider network of tuners, technicians, vendors, transport providers, families and community organisations.
Pan Trinbago is calling for consultation with Government and law enforcement to ensure crime-fighting measures do not unintentionally disrupt legitimate steelpan and cultural activities.
