Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Mystar has been named as the new head of the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service.
The Trinidad Guardian reports Mystar has replaced Surendra Sagramsingh, who was sent on administrative leave on Tuesday.
Mystar was reportedly on vacation leave and joins the TTMPS in a crisis after the murder of acting Corporal Anusha Eversley and the theft of weapons and ammunition on Sunday.
Eversley, 42 was found dead in the station with the safe emptied of all firearms and ammunition.
An autopsy later found that the acting Corporal with 19 years of service was strangled and beaten.
The TTPS is doing an audit to determine how many guns and ammunition were removed from the San Fernando facility.
On Tuesday, the police confirmed that 43 guns and over 900 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
A total of 10 people have been arrested, with a municipal police officer, suspected to be the mastermind of the theft, charged for the murder of Eversley.
