A grieving mother is seeking the High Court’s leave to apply for a committal order against Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, for failing to adhere to the terms of a court ruling.
Back in April, a High Court Judge ruled in favour of Rosanna Smith, who was seeking details of the police investigation into the death of her 25-year-old daughter, Maria.
In October 2021, Maria was found dead in a vehicle near Spring Bridge, Blanchisseuse.
Her death was ruled a suicide, however Ms Smith later went to police with information that she believed pointed to a police officer who was allegedly involved with her daughter.
She eventually took legal action, as she claimed nothing further was being done.
Earlier this week, her attorney filed a case claiming the Top Cop had failed to adhere to the ruling which calls on the TTPS to grant access to progress reports, investigative reports and witness statements, and also to pay her legal costs which amounted to about $39,000.
