Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen has praised workers of the National Programme for the Upkeep of Public Spaces, following maintenance works at 383 schools during the July-August vacation.
The programme covered 56 early childhood centres, 224 primary schools and 103 secondary schools ahead of the reopening of schools.
Works included cutting and clearing recreation grounds, removing overgrown vegetation, power washing buildings and pavements, and general cleaning.
Minister Ameen described it as a major effort to ensure schools were ready for the new academic year.
