A male suspect remains at large after attempting to throw a package over the perimeter fence at the Port of Spain Prison this morning.
The man, dressed in a blue shirt and cream-coloured pants, was seen around 6:45am near the intersection of Gordon Street and Pembroke Street.
As Prisons Officers approached him, he reportedly fled the area on foot with the package still in his possession.
The Prison Service reminds that trafficking, or attempting to traffic, prohibited articles into or out of a prison is an offence.
It adds that it continues to work closely with the Police Service and other law enforcement agencies to detect, investigate and prosecute offenders.
