Attorney General John Jeremie has met with a US Embassy delegation to discuss human trafficking and opportunities for continued cooperation in tackling the crime.
The delegation included representatives from the US Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.
The meeting addressed victim protection, investigations, prosecutions and regional collaboration.
Discussions took place against the background of T&T retaining its Tier Two ranking in the US Trafficking in Persons Report and this country’s 2025 annual report, which identified 30 victims, all female and subjected to sexual exploitation.
The US has recommended stronger prosecutions, improved victim protection and better access to dedicated shelters.
