Ten cellphones and 21 weapons, including 18 improvised weapons and three switchblades, have been seized during an intelligence-led search at the Maximum Security Prison in Golden Grove.
The operation was carried out by Emergency Response Unit officers on Monday night.
Officers also confiscated 484 grams of a plant-like material resembling marijuana, almost 2,000 cigarettes, razor blades, cell phone accessories and other prohibited items, along with $401.
Acting Commissioner of Prisons Elvin Scanterbury says these operations are critical to strengthening security within the nation’s prisons.
