A Chaguanas businessman was granted $50,000 bail for Fraudulent Conversion valued at $5,500.
In November 2025, a person reportedly made a downpayment to the accused for the purchase, installation and delivery of a glass shopfront, consisting two fixed panels and one commercial door.
The items were to be delivered and installed within six weeks, with the balance of money to be paid upon completion of the job.
However, the items were not delivered and installed as promised and numerous attempts by the victim to recover the payment were unsuccessful.
On August 25th officers went to a Chaguanas address in search of the suspect, however he subsequently surrendered at the Sangre Grande Police Station the next day.
Shamir Rafique was granted bail by Justice of the Peace Carl Dattoo and is expected to appear before a Master of the High Court on September 2nd 2026.
