3 held during roving exercise in POS

Three persons were arrested, 28 vehicles searched and 13 Electronic Fixed Penalty Notices issued during a joint roving exercise in Port of Spain.

It was executed between 7pm and 10pm yesterday by officers of the Central Police Station and the Capital City Patrol Unit.

The operation focused on Independence Square North and South, from Lodge Place to Wrightson Road, South Quay, Belmont Circular Road, Rookery Nook, Maraval, Tragarete Road, Arapita Avenue and French Street, Woodbrook.

Among those arrested were a 32-year-old man for driving under the influence after allegedly providing a breath alcohol reading of 64 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath.

A second man was held for driving without ever having been issued a driver’s permit and for operating a motor vehicle without a valid Certificate of Inspection.

A Venezuelan national was also arrested.
